He looked at it in disgust. ‘There. I am wounded again, and have had better scratches from the kitchen cat. Are you ready to call a halt, or must we continue?’

Marcus stepped back and took his guard again. ‘Call a halt? As always, St John, you are trying to walk away in the middle of the fight, leaving me to deal with the consequences. If you cannot leave her alone, you must marry the girl. I am sick of your cowardice.’

St John felt the blood creeping into his face, and forced the rage into his gut to save for the fight. ‘Now, Marcus, you are the one who has gone too far. You sit on your precious land with your lovely wife, and think that because you have money and power, and had the good luck to be born first, you have the right to decide my future. Then, when you lack the guts to run me through, you call me coward.’ He attacked, then, again and again, forcing his brother to give ground. ‘And now, I must finish this, since you cannot. If you do not kill me, you will not see another day. My apologies to your wife, and your children.’
